Lake Garda! Lovely, lovely Lake Garda. One of my most memorable experiences of the tour was when we approached Lake Garda, in Italy. As we approached the lake I could see this azure blue water that glistened in the sun like diamonds. Our entrance to the lake was spectacular. It took us on a descending road along a wide curve with a panoramic view of this velvety smooth, sparkling water. I could hear some of the tourists on the motor coach literally gasp with surprise as the lake suddenly appeared in our view. Quite a stunning entrance to Lake Garda – it was breathtaking!
Lake Garda is the largest of Italy’s fresh water lakes. It is some 30 miles long, and ranges from 1-10 miles wide throughout its length. It is probably the cleanest of Italy’s great lakes, and safe to swim in its waters. That day we saw windsurfing, sailing and boating on the lake. The weather was picture perfect as you can see from my photos, which made this visit extremely enjoyable, and I ate the best authentic Italian pizza that day for lunch. Did I say it felt like a day in paradise?
